Snow Days

We've had snow in Seattle this week! Kevin and I went out playing in it over the weekend.

School has been canceled, so I am sitting in my pajamas watching British films and gazing out at the snow globe that has become of the Waterfront.

Wine and Cheese

Waseem threw a wine and cheese party the other day. It was very swanky, and we dressed up.

Cooking Butternut Squash Soup

I cooked a turkey for the first time in my life during Christmas and had the moderate intelligence to let the carcass and meats simmer for a time in some water, thus creating turkey stock. That turkey stock sat for awhile in my fridge, slowly congealing into a delicious fatty meat jell-O. I decided it was the time for action, and found a recipe for butternut squash soup, which I have never made before.

It was quite inexpensive to buy all of the ingredients since I already had the stock, and it turned out OK. Mostly it tastes like turkey.

Post-Christmas Cleansing

When my family left for Los Angeles and Virginia on the first of the New Year, Kevin and I got busy cleaning. We cleaned just about everything that disinfectant can improve, as a matter of fact.

Post Christmas

Kevin and I had the distinct pleasure of being visited by family this holiday season. My parents came from Virginia and my sister from Los Angeles to celebrate Channukah, Christmas, New Years, and my grandfather's 90th birthday.

Christmas in Seattle was relaxing and delicious. We all overate, particularly me.

For Zaydeh's birthday, he took us up North to Almost-Canada to stay at a resort called Semiahmoo.

Once back in Seattle, we continued to overeat in preparation for 2012.
